Are you living the 5 pillars of health?
“Eat real food, mostly plants, not too much…” ~Michael Pollen
“Health (H) is equal to the quantity of micronutrients (N) in your food divided by the calories (C), or nutrients per calorie (H=N/C)” ~Dr. Joel Fuhrman, M.D.
For health and longevity, the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), the American Heart Association (AHA), and the federal government all recommend:
Do moderately intense cardio 30 minutes a day, five days a week
Do vigorously intense cardio 20 minutes a day, 3 days a week
Do eight to 10 strength-training exercises, eight to 12 repetitions of each exercise twice a week.
Sleep guidelines from the National Sleep Foundation suggest 7-9 hours/night for adults, more for younger people. This means every night.
4) Human connection
Relationship is fundamental to well being. Clear, accurate communication is crucial to having good relationships. Learning to manage thoughts and flow with what is, rather than fight or deny reality will greatly reduce stress and make life much more pleasant.
5) Spiritual connection
Some form of meditation, prayer, connection with the Divine is essential on a daily basis for health and sanity.
